These patterns are designed to float on the surface film (add floatant).
Parachute Adams: A versatile "attractor" pattern that imitates various insects, including adult Mayflies (Callibaetis), midges, caddis, and Blue-Winged Olives. Size 16
Adams: A versatile "attractor" pattern that imitates various insects, including adult Mayflies (Callibaetis), midges, caddis, and Blue-Winged Olives. Size 16
Purple Haze: A popular mayfly variation. If fish are "slurping" at the surface, this is often the winner. Size 16
Parachute Blue-Winged Olive (BWO): Features a distinct olive body and slate-gray wings. Essential for cloudy days, it can be fished as a nymph, emerger, dun, or spinner. Size 16
Adams Klinkhammer: A highly effective emerger pattern. Apply floatant only to the top wing/hackle; the hook and half the body should sit below the surface to mimic an insect struggling to hatch. Size 16
Adams Spinner: Represents the "spent" stage of a Mayfly—an insect that has mated and died, lying flat on the water. Size 16
March Brown: While it imitates the adult March Brown mayfly, it is a fantastic evening fly from June through September. Size 16
Pale Morning Dun (PMD): Named for its pale yellow/olive body and morning hatch time; it represents the "dun" (sub-imago) stage of the mayfly. Size 16
Light Cahill: The pale counterpart to darker patterns. This fly serves as a general mayfly or caddis imitation and is a reliable trout catcher. Size 16
Black Gnat: A classic pattern used to simulate small, dark, fluttering insects on the surface. Size 16
Griffith’s Gnat: Designed to imitate a midge cluster or mating adults clumped on the surface. Size 18
Renegade: A "fore-and-aft" pattern that imitates midges, gnats, and terrestrials like ants or small beetles. When in doubt, try a Renegade. Size 16
Mosquito: A specific imitation for when these biting pests are hovering over or landing on the water. Size 16
Elk Hair Caddis: The go-to for caddisfly hatches. When these are around, there is no mistaking them—they’ll be everywhere! Size 16
Right Side - Subsurface Patterns (Nymphs & Streamers)
These live and hunt under the water.
Carey Special: An excellent "searching" fly. It doesn't look like any specific bug, but it looks too good for a trout to pass up. Size 14
Gold-Ribbed Hare’s Ear: A premier, versatile nymph that imitates various mayfly, caddis, and stonefly nymphs, as well as small crustaceans. Size 18
Guide’s Choice Hare’s Ear: A modified version of the classic that imitates emerging caddis, mayfly nymphs, caddis larvae, scuds, sow bugs and small stoneflies. Size 16
Sheep Fly: A versatile subsurface pattern that imitates scuds, damsel/dragonfly nymphs, water boatmen, or leeches. Size 16
Prince Nymph: A flashy "attractor" nymph. Its bright biots and glossy body draw fish in, mimicking stoneflies or mayflies. Size 18
Woolly Bugger: One of the most famous flies in existence. It imitates leeches, baitfish, sculpins, crayfish, and large larvae like hellgrammites.
(Green sparkles, Brown, Purple, Balck, and Green) Size 16
Royal Coachman: A classic attractor that mimics no specific insect but suggests mayflies, caddis, or stoneflies. It can also be fished sub-surface as a "drowned" fly. Size 16
